Marlyse was born from Swiss parents in the Middle East and lived there throughout her childhood. Growing up, she was surrounded by art and a multitude of cultures. Her senses were filled with the beautiful diversity of the world.

As an adult, she lived in the heart of Africa for many years. It was there, that her artistic mind was awakened by all of the bright colors so prevalent throughout the culture. Then, traveling throughout the world, her life experiences deepened her knowledge of herself and of her work. As she grows, her art does as well.

Marlyse shares the artistic passions of Monet and modernists, Henri Matisse, Paul Cezanne and Paul Klee. Her artwork “chases the light” and is inspired by her travels, the “wow” moments of everyday life, and the fleeting sensations of an intense emotional experience, either euphoric or sorrowful. These pieces are  created in impressionistic or expressionistic styles.

Painting takes her into reverie and with each layer of lush color, added texture and vibrant brushstroke, she is drawn in even more. She creates in oils, acrylics and watercolors…her subject matter, abstracts, flowers, seascapes, landscapes and whimsical portraits.

“When I paint, I feel the happiness that arises in the people viewing my art. My travels are my source of inspiration.”

“I take joy in watching people look at my art as it brings back memories for them of their travels or special moments in their lives.”

Marlyse’s paintings are created in her private studios in Laguna Beach, CA and in Tuscany, Italy. They are featured in several solo and groups exhibitions internationally. She also speaks English, French, German, Arabic, and some Italian.
